Inspiring Intercultural Education In Tokyo
On April 28th-30th, the ICU Rotary Peace Center will be partnering with Cairo based NGO, Safarni, to train local educators and youth workers in Safarni’s intercultural education methodology geared towards making “every child a global citizen.” Safarni’s aim is to broaden children’s understanding of the world and develop their emotional connections to humanity outside their own cultures in light of existing barriers to intercultural exposure.
The training will equip Tokyo-based educators and youth workers to carry out the Safarni Days in their schools and communities. To achieve this goal, the ICU Rotary Peace Center has been working in partnership with a range of local organizations including the Rotary E Club of Tokyo Peace Wing (our generous funder), Glocal Mitaka (a Mitaka-based community organization), and Mirai No Mori (a Tokyo-based NGO that provides outdoor education adventures and support to children living in residential care).
