40-Hour Basic Mediation Training facilitated by Rotary Peace Fellows
April 13-27, 2014
Through a partnership with the Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center (APADRC), ICU Rotary Peace Center offered a 40-hour Basic Mediation Training with an emphasis on building cross-cultural competency. This highly interactive training introduced effective communication strategies, multicultural conflict resolution and peace theory, along with a full day of role plays with coaches from the APADRC. The aim of this training is to prepare participants to act as a neutral mediator in community conflicts. This training also fits the minimum requirements of the State of California Dispute Resolutions Programs Act for mediation training.
Participants, both Rotary Peace Fellows and non-Rotary ICU students, enjoyed this intensive training and received a “Certificate of Attendance” upon completion of the entire 40 hours of training, which is a combination of online, self-directed material and in-person sessions.
